Disney Is Testing Out Single Rider Lines On Star Wars Rise of the Resistance, But There’s a Catch

Today, WDWNT is reporting that Disney is testing out a single-rider line option at the Rise of the Resistance attraction in the Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge area of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. However, it does come with a “catch.”

Those wanting to utilize the single rider lane can do so near the attraction’s exit. A Cast Member with a single rider line sign is located there.

WDWNT did utilize the offering but found out by doing so one gets right into the attraction within a few minutes, but they miss out on most of the story and a large part of the “ride.”

Rise of the Resistance boasts a long 18-minute attraction, but a large part of that time is taken up by the pre-show areas. The first pre-show area features Rey and other characters from Disney’s sequel trilogy explaining the mission. Another pre-show area takes guests on a ship that is captured, and then you are unloaded into the Star Destroyer hangar or the “stormtrooper room” as “prisoners.”

Guests are skipped right into the hangar room using the single rider line.

It would be great if you had ridden the attraction before and wanted to go on the ride portion of Rise of the Resistance. However, if you wanted to experience the entire attraction, you missed a large part of it.

WDWNT also stated that single-rider guests are being put through the left lane of the queue, which is now being used for single riders only.

They also said that a Cast Member indicated this could be a plan for accommodations for those guests who couldn’t get a DAS pass. Using the single rider line to assist those with special needs is a good idea, especially in an attraction with long wait times. However, I do feel bad that they would potentially miss the rest of the attraction.

If you want to ride Rise of the Resistance, and don’t want to pay for upcharges, this might be an excellent way to go about it. Provided you don’t mind riding with another group.
