Disney is being criticized for the menu pricing of the new Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers. Many are pointing out that the pricing is up to 50% higher at the Disney location than at other locations. While they put it near the deluxe Boardwalk Inn, I think even guests staying there would raise eyebrows at some of these prices!
This might be a breaking point for guests.
Fountain drinks are $8!
Peanut Butter and Jelly for the kids is $18!
Heck, a piece of cake starts at $22!
A side of bacon is $8. For a side!
Do you want a charcuterie board? That will be $78!
The cheapest entree is a burger and fries, and they want $32.
WDWNT has a breakdown of the prices, and it’s insane!

X is voicing their displeasure with the Cake Bake Shop and Disney.
Narrator: As he walked down the Boardwalk, he was excited to try out the long awaited Cake Bake Shop. He excitedly placed his order for some delicious bakery fare.
Me: I’ll take the ham sandwich with fries and a Coke please!
CM: That’ll be $46
Narrator: He was never seen or… https://t.co/iGbW1kfbuG pic.twitter.com/xcd7BMFoMA

This is exactly what my husband said as well. If people pay it how long will it be until they use it as a reason to increase food prices across the parks?
It’s insane, no doubt it will be busy for the first while with influencers and people wanting to try it.
The scary thing is if it’s a success and Disney start taking notes.

She is right. EPCOT is right there and the food is better and less expensive.
I don’t know who this is supposed to appeal to at WDW. Especially steps from Epcot, where they have way better food for half the price.

This is my favorite comment! No. No. They studied at Disney France, which is right across the bridge.
Dude it has Brie and it’s *pomme frites*. These fries went to college. They studied abroad
You know what’s expensive? A flight to France. Stop looking at price and think about *value*

That looks like a menu you’d see in a country where you divide by 3 to get the price in dollars

$18 buttered noodles for the kids.
Not even joking, did AI generate this menu?

I know the hell storm is baring down, but can we take a second to appreciate that–for the first time since DisFlix probably?–DisTwitter came together as one to say in a single voice, “get out of here with that nonsense, Cake Bake Shop”?
We now face Milton a united community. https://t.co/b61wlY482v pic.twitter.com/Z4CLTMgLve

The Cake Bake Shop @WaltDisneyWorld deserves to go out of business with prices that spit in the face of every guest at WDW. You can’t make up for taking three years to build a restaurant by charging $35 for a Croque Madame and $8 for a Coke! #DisneyWorld pic.twitter.com/G6HmLS7AU5

People are not happy. While the cake slices are big and normally pricey, it’s the markups and costs of other food that are setting people off. Sure you could go to Cinderella’s Royal Table and pay this much, however, that is in the flipping castle.
I don’t care how pretty the building is. These prices are insane.
Even if bloggers and influencers go there to try the food or get it for free at a media event, I don’t care what they say about it. It could be the best-tasting stuff ever, and I still refuse to pay those prices. As soon as people do, Disney will likely start marking up food pricing across the park based on what guests will pay for that one location. It is what they do.
At the Q3 meeting, they already said they expected to take a hit at the parks for a “few quarters.” To mitigate the loss, they are going to do everything they can to get more money from the guests they have left.
The Cake Bake Shop is set to open this fall. Its opening has been pushed back a couple of times, originally scheduled for 2023 and then spring 2024.
