Destination D23 is wrapping up today at Walt Disney World, but we do have one great piece of news. Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom will once again return to its original color scheme.
Thank goodness. I hated the current one. It felt like Disney was trying to make it look like Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle to make generic “castle” merch and save money.
The new look is “inspired” by the original (and best) version.

Cinderella Castle will once again feature “grays, creams, blues, and touches of gold“.
So basically this?
How is this even news?

Somehow this common sense move requires “incredible amounts of research” to learn that “At Walt Disney World, the castle’s iconic look is built on a timeless color combination: deep, handsome blues paired with radiant golds. These colors were chosen to reflect the Florida sunshine in a way that makes the castle shimmer from every angle.”
How much did that research cost?
Cinderella Castle will be repainted in UV, weather-tested paint, including high-performance car paint for the roof.
“Subtle variations help the castle feel more lifelike: stones are finished with a lower sheen to appear natural, while rooftops and gold accents shine with higher gloss, giving them a decorative sparkle. Gold is used strategically around the spires to catch the last reflections of sunlight.”
It just seems like a lot to say they are putting the castle mostly back to how it was, because it looked better, and people liked it more.
