Disney has been the victim of an unusual spamming attempt that prompted Google Search results to post “Disney Black Hat SEO” in regard to the Walt Disney website. They were not hacked but instead were trolled with Anchor Text Poisoning.
What is a “Black Hat SEO package” and does Disney use them?
Black Hat SEO refers to the use of questionable or unethical tactics to boost a website in the search results or rankings. The methods usually violate search result guidelines.
What is Anchor text?
Anchor text is when you create a hyperlink to a page. Usually, the link will contain the name of the website or a description of the contents.
What happened with Disney?
Hackers manipulated “anchor text” to trick the search results, making it appear that Disney was either participating in or offering “Black Hat SEO” packages.
Spammers sent hundreds of anchor text links to the Walt Disney Website, calling it “Disney Black Hat SEO”
This tricked Google into adding it to the search results for the Walt Disney website, coming up as “Disney Black Hat SEO,” making people think that the Disney site revealed a nefarious secret that Disney was either participating in or selling these Black Hat SEO services.
It was quickly resolved.
The Disney website was not hacked. Disney is not selling Black hat SEO packages. It was all just a clever troll by people who understand how Google and Anchor Text work.
