Disney Delays Theatrical Releases of ‘Free Guy’ and ‘Death on the Nile’

Disney has officially pulled two of their upcoming releases from 20th Century Studios. Free Guy was set to release on December 11, and Death on the Nile, set to release on December 18, are no longer on the December release calendar for theaters.

There hasn’t yet been new dates released for the films, but it will likely be pushed into 2021. It seems that when movies are pushed back, the theatrical release dates for other films get pushed back as well. I won’t be surprised to see several release dates changed. Unless Disney decides to put the films onto Disney+ or Video on Demand, which is also a possibility.

Many studios keep saying they don’t want to put films out via VOD, but they keep pulling the releases from theaters. Eventually they are either going to have to release them to the theaters or to on demand services. It will be interesting to see which.
