Earlier today we posted about how Disney has removed both Spaceship Earth and Mary Poppins from “The EPCOT Experience.” Now Disney has confirmed that these projects are indeed postponed.
This information is coming from The Laughing Place, who got confirmation with a Disney Spokesperson saying:
“As with most businesses during this period, we are further evaluating long-term project plans. The decision was made to postpone development of the “Mary Poppins”-inspired attraction and Spaceship Earth at this time.”
They also mentioned that Disney is reassessing projects and plan on moving forward on the retheming of Splash Mountain to Princess and the Frog.
With their now limited funds, and the fact that Bob Chapek previously indicated cuts were coming, they are rearranging their priorities for the time being.
The Festival Center might also be a casualty of the cuts as WDWNT is reporting that the model of the festival center has been removed from ‘The EPCOT Experience.’ They also removed elements of “Spaceship Earth: Our Shared Story” and of Mary Poppins “Cherry Tree Lane.”

You can see the original film and set up in our previous live-stream from February:
I’m waiting to see what else gets changed, cancelled or postponed moving forward. I also wonder what they will do with that area if they don’t put in the festival center. Currently the “spine” area of the park is behind walls and a giant construction zone. Are we going to get more concrete instead of the plants?
What do you think? Comment and let me know.
