Disney CEO Bob Iger Indicates “Frozen 4” Will Be Coming

Disney is attempting to “Toy Story” “Frozen” now. The House of Mouse is seemingly doubling down on more films with Elsa and Anna. Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that another “Frozen” movie is coming after “Frozen 3,” which hasn’t yet been released.

Iger announced this during a promotional “Good Morning America” (GMA) spot today. He was calling in from Hong Kong Disneyland as he and Josh D’Amaro were there for the opening ceremony of the new “World of Frozen” land at the Asian theme park.

GMA is Disney’s go-to space for announcements as Disney owns the show and often uses it as a PR mouthpiece for their new attractions, parks, toys, movies, etc. Today’s promotion was the new “Frozen” area of their theme park.

Here’s what he said:

“‘Frozen 3′ is in the works, and there might be a ‘Frozen 4’ in the works too, but I don’t have much to say about those films right now. Jenn Lee [director], who created the original ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen 2,’ is hard at work with her team at Disney animation on not one but actually two stories.”

Basically, it was all one giant tie-in to promote the new theme park.

Iger previously announced that Disney would do fewer films with smaller budgets. That seemingly means more live-action remakes and more sequels to proven IP. Hopefully, this move will not go the way of “Toy Story” and the most recent film “Lightyear,” which bombed hard at the box office.

Sounds like less innovation and more sequels. So much for Iger’s talk of the Walt Disney Company being creative and returning to creativity.
