Disney has just announced that their newest live action movie project will be called Raya and the Last Dragon.

The dragon’s name will be Sisu and will be voiced by Awkwafina. Raya will be voiced by Cassie Steele.
The movie is slated for Thanksgiving 2020
Although according to a couple of blogs, it might be a renamed version of the rumored Dragon Empire that was previously being made. With the images and announcements it’s less clear if that was indeed the case.
One thing I find a bit weird is that it’s called ‘Raya and the Last Dragon,’ but The Dragon Prince has a character name Rayla. Then there’s the fact that they both are about an important dragon.
People were thinking that it might be the same as the “in production” Dragon Empire. But the synopsis for that one was a girl named Jan-Nin being on a quest with a 900 year old man named Bolin. This seems different from that.
Maybe it’s just me but the dragon looks like a female Mushu.
We will have to wait and see more. But so far we just have the title and I am looking forward to hearing more!
