The Walt Disney Company has officially announced a brand-new “Hannah Montana” special starring Miley Cyrus, coming soon to Disney+ as part of a 20th Anniversary celebration of one of the most memorable shows in Disney Channel history.
The special, entitled “Hannah Montana: Still in the Spotlight,” will reunite Cyrus with the character that helped launch her career. It will also celebrate the enduring legacy of the “Hannah Montana” series, which debuted on Disney Channel in 2006 and ran until 2010.
What the Special Is About
According to Disney’s announcement, “Hannah Montana: Still in the Spotlight” will explore both nostalgia and new moments as Miley Cyrus revisits her old character. The one-hour special will feature Cyrus reflecting on the character’s impact, sharing her experiences behind-the-scenes, and giving fans a deeper look at how “Hannah Montana” helped shape her life and career.
In addition to Cyrus’s personal insights, the special will include never-before-seen footage, musical performances, and a look at the fans who have kept the magic of “Hannah Montana” alive for nearly two decades. Details on additional appearances and collaborators in the special are expected to be shared closer to its Disney+ premiere.
Cyrus offered this quote in the Disney press release, saying,
“Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection. The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
