The Walt Disney Company is claiming that Govenor Ron DeSantis and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (Reedy Creek) board has been dragging their feet when it comes to legal paperwork in a court case. This is delaying a decision to decide who/what ultimately has authority regarding construction within the Walt Disney World resort.
In an article over at the Orlando Sentinel, it was revealed that Disney is claiming the CFTOD is trying to get the court case delayed and that the recently appointed body is “dodging its obligations.” If the December hearing is delayed, it could be pushed back over two months.
In court papers filed by Disney’s lawyers, the company insists that the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District has “failed to produce a single document for nearly two months following Disney’s requests, broke commitments to agreed-upon deadlines, and remains in possession of discovery that Disney needs to develop its summary judgment opposition.”
However, the Mouse was not done there.
Over at Blog Mickey, they’re reporting that recently two memos from the Walt Disney Company’s attorneys accuse Florida State Govenor Ron DeSantis of “constitutional mutiny.” We could not find these documents to verify the statement, but according to the article, the company lays into the politician, calling his actions “un-American.”
DeSantis has not been humble about his legal feud with Disney, and its lawyers are not shy about pointing this out. The legal team claims the governor’s actions include “publicly boasted about orchestrating a secret plan to punish Disney for its comments on public affairs and to exercise continuing control over its entertainment programming.”
The memos continue with more grievances against DeSantis, claiming that “states cannot force government-approved political orthodoxy on the citizenry by punishing individuals and businesses who express political views that depart from official state doctrine.”
