Did Pixar Announce a Live Action “Toy Story” Film For 2029?

A rumor is circulating that Pixar plans to make a live-action “Toy Story” film to be released in 2029.  But is this true?

No.

It is a joke from the parody account Discussing Fish on X.  Somehow, it got shared around as if it were true, causing quite the uproar. But it isn’t actually real.

Discussing Fish hopes to play off of Discussing Film to trick people. They will even include a link to an article to make it appear legitimate. Usually, the article is paywalled, so it’s harder for people to verify the story as real or fake.

If you can read the cited “source,” it doesn’t say what they claim at all. The source is simply for show to make it seem legitimate.

Here is discussing FISH’s original post

There are currently no announced plans for Pixar to make a live-action “Toy Story” film. This is just a parody (joke) post that ended up getting far too much traction.

I get it’s easy to fall for these because I almost got duped once until I went to the source article and learned they never said it. I researched it because it seemed possible yet strange. Then I caught that it was DiscussingFISH, not DiscussingFILM.

Double-check the source on these. Just like Mouse Trap News, DiscussingFish is not meant to be taken seriously.

Can you imagine how absolutely ridiculous a live-action “Toy Story” would be?  Disney needs to cool it with the live-action reimaginings, but a “Toy Story” one would rank up there with the live-action “Bambi” they shelved. A totally terrible idea that would not translate well into a live-action film.
