Deadpool 3 Likely To Be Pushed Back Over Hollywood Strikes

Marvel and Deadpool fans were looking forward to a third film for the popular character. Wolverine was going to be in it, too, and excitement was high. Now it might be a longer wait until fans can see the third film if new rumors are true.

According to Deadline, their sources have told them that the film will be pushed back from the May 3, 2024 date as there is not enough time to get the film finished, even if the strikes would end now.

There’s just too much to do in regards to re-assembling crew, etc. Note, this is just the beginning for 2024 titles; other studios have yet to play the game of three-card monte with their most notable films, which are in similar positions as Deadpool 3.”

To restart production, the studio would have to get everyone back and re-assemble the crew to complete the filming. Then there’s the job of post-production, and all of this would likely take longer than six or seven months to complete.

Marvel could swap the release date with another film, but those options are also limited.

“Deadpool 3” currently has the slot that “Captain America: Brave New World” was in before it was pushed back until July 26, 2024. It’s unlikely they would switch those around. Marvel could possibly choose a new release date to add later in the year or even switch it out for the “Thunderbolts” on December 20, 2024.

At this time, it is all simply a rumor from Deadline, and nothing has been confirmed by either Marvel or Disney. The film could stay at its current release date, but given that they were reportedly only about half finished with the film, and the SAG-AFTRA strike is still waging on, this rumor is probably likely. But we can’t say for sure until it’s confirmed.
