Weeks after Marvel fired the head writers and potential directors of the Daredevil: Born Again Disney+ reboot, a new crew has been hired. Will they be able to please Kevin Feige?
The producer/writer for Netflix’s The Punisher series has been brought on board for the long-awaited Daredevil series. This news of Dario Scardapane’s new gig came exclusively from The Hollywood Reporter.
Scardapane will be joined by Loki co-directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. The two new hires have been brought on to finish up whatever episodes are left to film.
It’s worrisome that Disney decided to change the creative team during production. How bad could the filmed episodes have been? It’s unclear if more episodes will be reshot at this point.
Previous news says that the series was around 50% done. Could the shift be distracting and a disservice to Charlie Cox’s work as Matt Murdock and Daredevil? I guess we’ll see sometime next year.
Then again, it was reported that Cox wasn’t in costume until several episodes into Daredevil: Born Again. Is this a superhero show or Law & Order Lite?
Rumors had it that the upcoming Daredevil series was a massive departure from the mature Netflix series. Fan favorite characters were oddly absent, and the show focused more on courtroom drama than the duality of Murdock’s life.
The recent MCU Disney+ shows have been all over the place regarding quality. She-Hulk was a grievance fest for writers who were totally unfamiliar with the subject matter. Echo has zero hype behind it.
Ms. Marvel was … there. It indeed came out but left so little impact that it’s surprising the main character is headlining a major MCU theatrical release. Loki’s only strength is the fantastic charisma of Tom Hiddleston.
