Marvel and Disney have started moving over some of the Netflix Marvel characters, including Daredevil and The Punisher. Both will appear in the new “Daredevil: Born Again” show premiering next month on Disney+. Now Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, says that the return of other main characters that make up “The Defenders” is “inevitable.”
According to Comicbook.com, Winderbaum said that Matt Murdock running into his previous New York City cohorts is “inevitable,” seemingly indicating that there are plans to bring them to the MCU on Disney+. However, we do not have specifics yet.
“I don’t know, I want to follow the characters and see where they go. I think the two characters that are most important for Daredevil: Born Again are obviously Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. They live and breath in a world where these other Defenders characters are walking around somewhere, so I think collisions are inevitable.”
Who are “The Defenders”?
In the context of the Netflix Marvel shows, “The Defenders” was a show where all the characters in the Netflix Marvelverse came together for several episodes. Each of the characters that had stand-alone shows were featured, including Daredevil/Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist/ Danny Rand (Finn Jones).
So far, only Charlie Cox has returned, but there were rumors that Krysten Ritter may also be coming back.
We don’t know at this point, but it would be a good idea to bring them together again. Since Disney decided to continue the Daredevil series from the Netflix universe instead of rebooting, it would imply that these characters still exist. Plus, you can still watch these shows on Disney’s streaming services.
I am a fan of Netflix shows, so I would support bringing the characters back via Disney+ or Hulu. I really hope they do!
What do you think? Would you like to see these characters return?
