“Captain America: Brave New World” is opening in theaters on Valentine’s Day. Early pre-sale tickets went on sale just a few days ago and so far it isn’t looking too hot for the Marvel film.
A report from Luiz Fernando, who reports on box office numbers, indicates that it’s not looking all that great so far.
And yeah, #CaptainAmerica: #BraveNewWorld had its pre-sales kickoff on FRI at US #BoxOffice!

“And yeah, #CaptainAmerica: #BraveNewWorld had its pre-sales kickoff on FRI at US #BoxOffice!
After 2 days of pre-sales, although nowhere near #Quantumania which opened on the same weekend in 2023, #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld is currently 1.4x better than #TheMarvels & #JokerFolieADeux, on par with #Eternals & not that far from #BlackWidow & #DunePartTwo after their first 2 days of pre-sales,Keeping the same pacing in relation to the other films, #CaptainAmerica4 could be securing a 3-day opening above both #Thor & #CaptainAmericaTheFirstAvenger’s, and could even challenge #ShangChi’s 3-day opening, which was higher than Eternals thanks to positive WOM and #LaborDay holiday boost, similar to what #CaptainAmerica4 will also benefit, specially on SUN.
But #CaptainAmerica has an advantage none of those films had: it’s coming right after #DeadpoolAndWolverine, which certainly brought the MCU back to several casuals’ radar. And that alone could help Cap4 to achieve stronger walk ups than its comps ever could.
#CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld debuts on FEB 14, to enjoy the #PresidentsDay long holiday boost.”
“Captain America: Brave New World” is being compared to the opening total of “The Eternals,” which was around $71 million in late 2021. The poor box office was then attributed to “the pandemic.”
It is said to be selling better than “The Marvels,” which opened to about $46 million in late 2023 but far below “Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania.” “Ant-Man 3” opened to $106 million in 2023. All of these films were basically considered “flops.”
Again, we are only a few days into the ticket presales, but early box office predictions put this film at between $81-$107 million at domestic opening. The full run is estimated to fall between $195-$280 million domestically. This does not count the global audience which could make a big difference in the final total.
Keep in mind it is possible for pre-sale tickets to pick up closer to the film’s debut next month. However, right now it isn’t looking great.
