Royal Perks members can get a free Whopper Jr. on Oct. 31. Plus, Taco Bell puts Sriracha on Nacho Fries, Sweetgreen adds new drinks and Trader Joe’s has cornbread muffins.
Halloween is 10 days away, and the fast food deals are already lining up.
Burger King has a one-day freebie for Oct. 31, and a couple of chains brought back or added something fans have been asking for. Here are seven food finds from this week.
Availability varies by location, so check your app before you head out.
What is Burger King’s Halloween deal?
A buy one, get one free Whopper Jr. on Saturday, Oct. 31, for members of Burger King’s Royal Perks rewards program, Sporked reported. Pay for one Whopper Jr., and you get a second one free.
It’s an online-only offer. You need to add it to your account in the BK app or on BK.com before you go to the restaurant, according to Sporked. Only existing Royal Perks members can get it, and it ends when Halloween does.
There isn’t much else on Burger King’s Halloween menu this year, Sporked noted. Vampire Nuggets, Mummy Mozzarella Fries and the Jack-O-Lantern Whopper didn’t return.
The one Halloween item is the Vampire’s Bite strawberry Sprite drink, which comes with a candy straw, as PNP reported.
Is Waffle House salsa back?
Yes. Waffle House announced on Tuesday, Oct. 20, that it’s bringing back its salsa, and the chain said in the comments on X that it’s available now, Sporked reported.
Waffle House used to serve Casa de Waffle picante sauce. It disappeared during the COVID-19 pandemic, and fans even started a Change.org petition to bring it back, according to Sporked.
Waffle House didn’t say if the new salsa uses the old recipe. Sporked suggested trying it on hash browns with cheese and onions.
What are Taco Bell’s new Nacho Fries?
Creamy Sriracha Chicken Nacho Fries, for $5.49, Foodbeast reported. They’re available nationwide, though prices may vary.
The fries come topped with slow-roasted chicken, a creamy Sriracha sauce and warm nacho cheese sauce. There’s also a mozzarella, pepper jack and cheddar blend, finished with pico de gallo.
What new drinks does Sweetgreen have?
Two new housemade drinks, Tropical Black Tea and Fresh Blackberry Basil, at 120 restaurants, Restaurant Dive reported, citing a Sweetgreen press release Tuesday. Sweetgreen also reworked its Signature Lemonade and Ginger Greens and added a bigger 24-ounce cup.
The drinks are made in-house from fruit, vegetables, herbs and agave. The Tropical Black Tea has no sweetener at all.
“We made them slightly less sweet so the blackberry, basil and ginger come through first,” co-founder Nicolas Jammet said in a statement.
The rollout covers Boston, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Nashville and parts of California, among other markets, according to Restaurant Dive.
What are Trader Joe’s Cornbread Muffins?
A new limited-time bakery item made with corn kernels, honey and sour cream, with a dusting of cornmeal on top, The Takeout reported. They’re $5.49 for a four-pack.
They should stay in stores until the end of December, so they could make it to your holiday table. Trader Joe’s suggests serving them with turkey chili or salted butter, according to The Takeout.
What is Graza’s garlic hummus at Costco?
Garlic Confit and Chive Hummus from Graza, the olive oil brand, Sporked reported. It comes in a big 22.5-ounce tub.
Graza says the garlic is slow-cooked in its extra-virgin olive oil, then mixed with chives. For now, it’s only at select Costco stores in the Southeast, according to Sporked.
Is there a potato that tastes like roast chicken?
Apparently. The Poulette Potato is a new variety from Row 7 Seed Company, now at select Whole Foods stores in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, Foodbeast reported.
It was bred by crossing French heirloom and New York potatoes, with inspiration from French chef Michel Bras. Row 7 calls it savory, nutty and rich, and one chef compared its flavor to roast chicken, according to Foodbeast.
So if you only grab one thing this week, make it the free Whopper Jr. on Halloween. Just remember to load the deal in the app first.
