Brie Larson Teases Possible MCU Return

Aside from the mixed quality of writing, one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest issues is the lack of key characters that audiences can attach themselves to and root for. The first three phases had Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America. But following Avengers: Endgame, there has been a lack of those types of characters, not that Marvel hasn’t tried.

One of the characters they tried to push to be the next big face of the franchise is Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel. Portrayed by actress Brie Larson, her 2019 debut film Captain Marvel did rather well at the box office. However, following some comments made by the actress herself and her rather wooden performance in the film, many grew to dislike both her and the character.

Following a brief appearance in Avengers: Endgame, she didn’t appear in anything until 2023’s The Marvels, in which she had to share the spotlight with two other heroines. But the film did so poorly at the box office that it became the first MCU movie to make less than its production budget.

Nearly a year later, little has been said regarding the character’s future. She was even absent from this year’s San Diego Comic Con. Well, we may have some news on that front. In a recent interview with The Playlist, she was asked about her experience working on The Marvels. She even gave us a small hint that she knows something regarding her future in the franchise.

I just loved being with those ladies so much. And I think that the sentiment of it is so right to me and is much more where I’m at in my life, which is, there’s no one superhero that can save us.

It takes all kinds of people that have their own special skill sets and the ability to understand that the brink of disaster cannot be stopped by one. It’s all of us coming together. So that feels really right to me. And you know, as for the future, there’s things that I know, but I can’t tell you.

Captain Marvel will most likely make an appearance for Avengers 5 & 6. How much will she contribute to the story? Not much is known outside of some rumors saying that she will supposedly lead the Avengers. But only time will tell if these reports are true or if she ends up returning.

What do you think? Should Brie Larson return as Captain Marvel? Or is her character better off flying through space to the furthest parts of the universe, never to be seen again? Let us know your thoughts.
