During today’s investor call, Bob Iger was asked about the Walt Disney Company using Figment outside of EPCOT for shows or a film. Bob Iger said he has been asked the question about 15 times since he’s been at the company. He continued by saying that he would be asking for a show or shorts featuring the purple dragon.
Here is what Bob Iger said,
“We know that he’s popular with shareholders…..but we also know that he’s popular at EPCOT….I have been asked this so many times I am going to ask our creative teams to consider making some form of series or short form videos of Figment because he’s obviously more popular than just as a walk around character…”
These questions were pre-recorded to Disney likely just used this question as an opportunity to announce this.
I can tell you that Figment is indeed popular. I know that, at least as of 2020, one of the most requested changes to Disney parks has been in regard to Figment’s Journey Into Imagination with Figment attraction. Many guests want Dreamfinder back and would like the attraction to return to what it once was when it was just “Journey Into Imagination.”
Disney previously had a short-lived “Journey Into Your Imagination” attraction that removed Figment and that did not go over well at all so they shut it down and released the current version “Journey Into Imagination with Figment.”
It’s a no-brainer to add more Figment and to make a show or series of shorts based on the character. If Disney were smart they would also bring back Dreamfinder.
They did try this with a comic book series several years ago.
The books featured a much younger Dreamfinder with Figment.

Back in the 1980s Figment also had shorts that were used in schools.
The idea of shorts is nothing new.
