Bob Chapek Says Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Has Massive Demand. But Does It Really?

On today’s Disney’s 2022, Q2 Earnings Call, Disney CEO Bob Chapek gushed about the new “Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser” and how successful and how much demand there is for the ridiculously priced 40 hour LARPing hotel. But do the bookings back that up?

Short answer seems to be “not really.”

Remember the price on the hotel starts at 4,800-6,000. Most people can’t afford that. The bookings are reflecting that.

Since it opened in March, dates were mostly gone March-June 2022. July is mostly gone too, but August-December are wide open and have been that way for weeks.

If there is a lot of demand coming down the pipeline it isn’t showing up on availability yet. It isn’t like larger hotels where they might be cutting availability. There aren’t that many rooms in the hotel to begin with.

I will say that three months out is when we see dates start to disappear so we might see more demand as we go, but it definitely has seemed to drop off after initial interest.

There have been hints that they may do some special holiday events tied to Star Wars at the Starcruiser hotel, but nothing has been announced yet.

Time will tell.
