Bluey Loungefly collection is out, and the backpack lights up

Loungefly’s new Bluey line has a $90 light-up mini backpack of the Heelers’ backyard, a matching $42 wallet, and mystery bag charms and pins. It went live on Loungefly’s site Oct. 9.

Bluey fans who’ve been waiting on a Loungefly bag can stop refreshing.

Loungefly put its new Bluey collection up on its website on Oct. 9, the same date it teased on Instagram earlier in the week. The lineup is small, just four pieces, but the main bag swings big.

It lights up.

What’s in the Bluey Loungefly collection?

Four items, all listed on Loungefly’s site as of Friday night:

  • Bluey’s Backyard Light-Up Mini Backpack: $90

  • Bluey’s Backyard Zip-Around Wallet: $42

  • Bluey and Friends Mystery Mini Backpack Keychain Charm: $20

  • Bluey and Friends Mystery Box Pin: $12

One of each comes to $164 before tax and shipping. Loungefly’s own site is the place to look for now, since it hadn’t named any other stores carrying the line as of Friday.

What does the light-up Bluey backpack look like?

The mini backpack turns the Heelers’ backyard into a bag. Bandit, Chilli, Bluey and Bingo are out on the grass mid-game, under the big leafy tree with the red flowers.

The tree’s canopy pops off the front of the bag in a thick, textured layer. Round lanterns hang from the branches, and since Loungefly bills the whole thing as a light-up bag, those lanterns look like the part that glows.

That backyard is where a huge chunk of the show happens, from Keepy Uppy to whatever game Dad got talked into this week. Pretty good pick for a bag.

The wallet uses the same backyard art in a smaller zip-around shape, with the family front and center.

Are the Bluey charms and pins blind boxes?

Yes. Both are mystery items, so you don’t know who you’re getting until the box is open.

The keychain charms are tiny backpacks, each one shaped like a character. The box art shows six, including Bluey, Bingo and Coco. The pin box shows six designs too.

So landing all six charms costs at least $120, and that’s if you never pull a duplicate. Blind boxes don’t tend to work out that way, as any parent who has stood in a Target aisle can tell you.

Why did Loungefly tease the Bluey collection with a balloon?

Loungefly announced the drop with a short Instagram video. A red balloon bounces around in front of a backyard that looks a lot like the Heelers’ place, then pops to reveal the Oct. 9 date, Disney Food Blog reported.

That balloon is straight out of Keepy Uppy, the Season 1 episode where Bluey, Bingo and Bandit try to keep a balloon from touching the ground. Disney Jr. has the clip on YouTube.

Is Bluey a Disney show?

Not exactly, but Disney is all over it. Bluey is made by Ludo Studio in Australia, and BBC Studios handles its licensing worldwide. In the U.S., the show streams on Disney+ and airs on Disney Jr.

Disney is also handling the movie. The Bluey movie hits theaters Aug. 6, 2027, with Walt Disney Studios distributing, according to The Walt Disney Company. Creator Joe Brumm wrote and directed it.

Can you buy Bluey merch at Disney World?

Yes, and some of it is new this week. WDW News Today spotted fresh Bluey merchandise at Island Mercantile in Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Oct. 8.

That haul includes a $29.99 Grannies car toy with Bluey dressed as Granny Janet, plus $16.99 plush keychains of Bandit and Granny Rita. None of it is Loungefly, so the backpack won’t be hanging next to them.

Where else will Bluey show up this fall?

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. A new Christmas-themed Bluey balloon, based on the “Christmas Swim” episode, will fly at the 100th parade on Nov. 26, BBC Studios and Macy’s announced. It’s 47 feet long.

Melanie Zanetti and Dave McCormack, the voices of Chilli and Bandit, plan to be in New York for it.

If the light-up backpack is the one you want, don’t wait on it too long. Popular Loungefly minis have a habit of selling out, and nobody wants to explain to a 6-year-old where the Bluey bag went.
