The second Black Panther film is about ready to start production but the scrips for the film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, seem to be constantly in flux according to Angela Bassett.
Bassett, who plays Queen Ramonda in the MCU, was talking to Entertainment Tonight about her upcoming film “Gunpowder Milkshake” when she was asked if she had “any updates about what this film will look like?”
Her answer was basically “no” because they have had so many re-writes.
“There have been about five incarnations of the script and I hear another one’s coming.”
The reasons for a lot of the changes are likely due to the passing of Chadwick Boseman last year due to colon cancer.

Now Marvel is scrambling to find a new way forward. One that Ms. Bassett says will honor Mr. Boseman.
“Of course, with our Dear King going on to Glory, a lot of things had to be shifted and changed, so thankfully, Ryan [Coogler] and Joe Robert Cole, they’re just such masterful storytellers that they’ve found a way into this world and hopefully it will be satisfying, I think, for the fans and it will be honorable of our Chadwick. Of our king.”
I’m sure they have a lot to consider moving the mantle of Black Panther on in the MCU. So constant rewrites to get it correct make sense.
Currently the plot synopsis seems to be involving Wakanda and Atlantis:
“Both Wakanda and Atlantis are hidden civilizations with advanced technology and increased militaristic abilities that decided to separate themselves from the rest of the world for their own safety, and in a way, out of fear. Wakanda feared that their technology would be abused. Atlantis feared that surface dwellers would come and desecrate the mythical city just as they did so many years ago. And yet their fears escalate even further when these two once-hidden nations clash with each other. Wakanda and Atlantis have a shockingly intertwined history. Wakanda is the only county in the world with access to vibranium. However, rumors of its power spread throughout the world, and Namor’s human father was sent searching for this rare material in Antartica…”
This would make sense as Tenoch Huerta has supposedly been cast for Namor: The Submariner in the new film.

Namor is the son of a human father and an Atlantean princess. Traditionally he’s depicted as an anti-hero who changes sides based on what will benefit his people.
It sounds like an interesting premise. Now if they could get the script completed and start filming.
