To all of the who are fans of Disney theme parks and the history of their various attractions I have some good news to share. The second season of the Disney+ original documentary series Behind the Attraction is set ti release on November 1st with 6 brand new episodes.
The six topics for the episodes will be Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Indiana Jones Adventure, EPCOT, The Food and Nighttime Spectaculars. While it is a shame that we only get 6 episodes as opposed to 10 like the first season it is still good to see the series make some sort of return.
The first season premiered on July 21st, 2021, with the first five episodes, and on August 25th, 2021, with five more episodes. The topics included were Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, Star Tours, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, The Castles, Disneyland Hotel, It’s A Small World, Transportation, and Hall of Presidents.
The series was created by Brian Volk-Weiss and his company Nacelle, the same company behind the popular The Toys That Made Us series on Netflix and its sister series The Movies That Made Us. Nacelle is also currently acquiring and reviving old IPs such as Biker Mice from Mars, Sectaurs and The Wild West C.O.W. Boys of Moo Mesa.
Interestingly enough, the series faced some controversy on September 16th of that year when it was found that the Tower of Terror episode had apparently plagiarized artwork from the YouTube Channel Art of Engineering. The artwork was created for his 2019 video “How Disney’s Tower of Terror Works.” On September 21st, show creator Brian Volk-Weiss settled the matter and offered a sincere apology, altered the credits of that episode, and gave Art of Engineering proper credit.
Hopefully, this new season will be as entertaining as the last, and if enough people watch it, we may see more. Perhaps someday we may get a The Movies That Made Us style show focusing on Disney films.
