Say his name three times because Beetlejuice is officially joining WB’s MultiVersus! Oh, and he does not play well with others!
Beetlejuice’s debut isn’t all that surprising if you’ve noticed the updated MultiVersus icon that appeared over the past two weeks on Xbox and PlayStation. The ‘Ghost with the Most’ was displayed prominently alongside Samurai Jack.
The free-to-play game’s new spectral spartan employs all the attacks and powers you’d expect. Beetlejuice beats on opponents with mallet hands, sandworms, spikes, coffins, and more. He looks like he controls a bit like Joker, which is excellent if you like the assassin-class fighter.
The Bio-Exorcist will officially join the MultiVersus roster on August 20th. It’s unclear what you’ll need to do to unlock him, as the official website has not yet been updated.
What we do know is that his inclusion will also bring on a slew of new skins for the existing fighters. Ever wanted to deck Superman out in a black-and-white striped costume? Now you can!
The trickster ghost looks … interesting. The character model is undoubtedly Beetlejuice, but the MultiVersus version looks a little like Leisure Suit Larry from the mid-2000s.
As far as voice acting goes, whoever is behind the microphone is trying to capture Michael Keaton’s iconic line delivery, but it falls a little flat. WB should have brought in Stephen Ouimette to reprise the role from the fantastic Nelvana animated series.

MultiVersus went on an extended hiatus last year and only relaunched in May 2024. The return brought with it a few surprising inclusions, like Jason Voorhees. For a free-to-play Smash Bros. clone, it isn’t too bad.
