Arcade1Up Announces Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Cabinet (With 8 Games)

For a long time the fighting game community has been asking for a re-release of the classic Marvel vs. Capcom 2 game. Often considered one of the best fighting games ever made, the game was last publicly available via an HD port for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and iOS that released in 2009, but was delisted in 2013.

In August of 2021 popular YouTube personality Maximilian_Dood released a video asking for MvC2 fans to make their voices heard and started the #FreeMvC2 hashtag on Twitter which got a lot of momentum online.

Now one year later at the 2022 Evolution Championship Series tournament popular arcade cabinet company Acade1Up revealed that they will be teaming up with both Marvel and Capcom to release a brand new cabinet that collects most of the Marvel vs. Capcom series all in one place. The cabinet will also feature online play.

The announcement featured popular fighting game player Justin Wong who said that “Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has been freed” causing #FreedMvC2 to trend online.

The games that will be included are:

– Marvel vs. Capcom 2
– Marvel vs. Capcom
– Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
– X-Men vs. Street Fighter
– Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
– X-Men: Children of the Atom
– X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse
– Marvel Super Heroes in: War of the Gems

This isn’t the first time that Arcade1Up released Marvel themed cabinets.

There was a Marvel Super Heroes themed one in 2019:

Then two Marvel vs. Capcom themed ones in 2020:

The only previously released Arcade1Up Marvel game to not be included in this package is the Punisher beat em’ up game which was included in the original Marvel Super Heroes cabinet. Perhaps they should have included that and the Avengers in: Galactic Storm to have an even 10 games.

Arcade1Up will start accepting pre-orders on September 8th with an estimated delivery date on mid to late October. No price has been announced yet but many expect something in the ballpark between $500 – $600.

Are you excited?
