Long time fans of the popular Clone Wars television series are eagerly awaiting the upcoming Ahsoka Disney Plus series expected to release sometime in 2023. The series will star actress Rosario Dawson as the titular rogue Jedi set sometime around the Mandalorian.
All seems well for the series, but one issue that still bugs some people revolves around Ahsoka’s original actress Ashley Eckstein. Eckstein originally played the characters in the 2008 Clone Wars theatrical film and television series running from 2008 – 2013, and then again in 2020. She also voiced the character in the Star Wars: Rebels series which ran from 2014 – 2018.
Originally when it was rumored that Ahsoka Tano would appear in The Manadlorian in 2020 many fans were hoping to see Ashley appear as her character. She had even dressed up as her character before rather convincingly.
But the role was instead given to Rosario Dawson, splitting fans of the character. While Rosario has since garnered some praise for her portrayal some fans would have still preferred Ashley. It was even reported that Ashley herself was disappointed that she wasn’t even called in to audition.
Recently in a recent interview Ashley spoke about the upcoming Ahsoka series and her desire to make some sort of appearance in the show at some point, saying:
“It’s something that I have not been a part of. I would love to be, but I’m purely a fan at this point. I’m not involved in the live-action series. I’ve not met Rosario Dawson yet. We’ve never had the pleasure of meeting. I talk about throwing your dreams out into the universe. And so, it’s definitely a dream of mine to maybe one day get to be involved and maybe make a cameo or get to play a part, or meet Rosario at some point, one day. Got to throw your dreams out into the universe.“

Hopefully she gets her wish. Even if she isn’t playing Ahsoka having her play a minor role, perhaps as another Togruta, it would definitely make long time fans happy. Like when Christopher Reeve made an appearance in the Smallville television series.
