Today we have a look a the ongoing construction of the new Monstropolis “Monsters Inc.” area coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort.
This new area is replacing the original Muppets Courtyard area and will feature a coaster based on the door conveyor belt in the film.
Here is an aerial view of the current process, thanks to @bioreconstruct on X.

There seems to be a lot of movement on the upcoming coaster, with the concrete floor in progress.

An auger was in this site, worked right to left (in this viewpoint) to drill holes that were filed with concrete. Resulting pilings partially excavated at left. Cut to height, floor cast on top. pic.twitter.com/7ghpPhw650— bioreconstruct (@bioreconstruct) December 23, 2025
Concrete pillars are poured and then cut off to the proper height before concrete is poured on top.

Each part is being done in sections.

In this photo, you can get an idea of the sheer size this occupies. It can also be compared to the scale of Galaxy’s Edge.

While we don’t yet have an official opening date, the retheme is definitely progressing, but it’s Disney, so I would expect it to take longer than construction at Universal.
