Disney is in yet another period of transformation. Currently, they are working on sections in three of their four parks, including changing the Muppets Courtyard to Monstropolis and Monsters Inc. The old animation building is being changed back to animation-themeing after becoming the “Star Wars Launch Bay” for years.
Let’s take a look!
In this aerial overview of Disney’s Hollywood Studios:

• Construction of Monstropolis is at top left.

Monsters Inc. Land

In the new land, a suspended, vertical lift roller coaster is being built, and we have a look at the land prep for that as construction is starting.

Thanks to @bioreconstruct on X, we have a look at the current progress in that area.
Currently, the showbuilding area is being backfilled, with the start of construction coming soon.
Work is progressing nicely on the new Monsters Inc door coaster! Backfill has shown up which is why the sand is there. In the next couple months we will see things go vertical. 🙌 pic.twitter.com/h7HppewBqC

The rest of the Muppet Courtyard will be transformed into Monsters Inc. themed areas as well, but currently they are still Muppet focused right now,

The Magic of Disney Animation

Once upon a time there was an actual animation studio in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Now that area is being transformed again into an animation-themed attraction at the park.
This area is set to open in late Summer 2026.

The new Monsters Inc. area will take a lot longer to create than the animation experience. It won’t open until 2027 or 2028.
