Walt Disney World has a lot of construction going on right now. The Magic Kingdom is home to two major projects with the new Cars-themed Piston Peak area and the upcoming new Villains Land beyond Big Thunder Mountain.
Thanks to @bioreconstruct on X, we have a look at the progress on both areas.
Let’s take a look!
Villains Land

Let’s start with the upcoming Villains area, as it’s a completely new build.
Land is being cleared right now. Not much construction is happening here, but that should begin this year.

The new Villains Land will come up behind Fantasyland and Liberty Square.

Piston Peak

As with the new Villains Land area, the Cars-themed Piston Peak section is still in the process of land prep.

Not going to lie, this image makes me a bit sad. RIP Rivers of America.

Poor Haunted Mansion is surrounded by construction front (Piston Peak) and back (Villains Land).

I am excited to see the new areas though!
It will be a long time before either area opens. Piston Peak is unlikely to open until 2029-2030. Villains Land is looking at an opening from 2030 to 2032.
Disney is notoriously slow at building, while other theme parks move much faster.
Hopefully it’s worth the wait!
