A New Permit Filing Could Be The Lost Continent Replacement at Universal’s Islands of Adventure?

Project 555 is almost 5 acres of land to be demolished, which includes retail, show, and attraction buildings.

While it is not marked as the Lost Continent area, Behind the Thrills does point out that the amount of area would be consistent with that section of Islands of Adventure.

A retheme has long been rumored for this section of the park, with IP like The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon being the alleged replacements.

Now we know The Legend of Zelda is going into Epic Universe at some point, which leaves Pokémon.

I have heard from sources that Pokémon is the likely replacement for the Lost Continent. I’ve also heard that construction could start next month, which may mean an announcement of what is coming.

If the replacement is Pokémon, Disney should be worried. The Pokémon franchise is the top-grossing franchise worldwide.  If Universal adds it to their lineup along with Nintendo’s Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong, and Harry Potter, Disney will likely take another hit.

Universal gets attractions built far faster than Disney as well.

Of course, it’s all speculation for now. The only certain thing is that a Project 555 is happening, permits have been filed, and about 5 acres will be changed.
