The original Hollywood Brown Derby extended style and elegant to customers in California. Walt Disney himself adored the original location. Rumors exist that he modified menu item there while getting special seating. As a result, guests should not be surprised that a theme park version of The Hollywood Brown Derby resides in Hollywood Studios. Some guests make this restaurant a part of their vacation every trip to Walt Disney World. They love it. Though there are solid reasons to love this place, there exist numerous reasons to dislike this restaurant. Below, you will find some of those reasons.

A consistent criticism involves the long waits to be seated. Yes, this place basically requires reservations. However, guests mention waiting well after their reservation time to be seated. Though this dislike has merit, many diners experience these issues all over Orlando area for fine dining. Still, the waits grow longer here than other places.

Now, this place works as a solid component of a theme park. Yet, especially in late afternoon and evenings, the noise level exceeds standard expectation for fine dining. This reason to dislike varies based on table location. Still, the combination of long theme park days, alcohol, and high demand for a table lead to this phenomenon.

  1. PRICE

Even by Walt Disney World standards, this place ranks pricey. The menu offers burgers costing well over $20. Steaks here rival pricing at the upscale steak places on site. To be clear, the food quality positions itself high. Moreover, guests rarely complain about quality of food. The dislike comments emerge from realization that equal version of their meals exist elsewhere for less money elsewhere. In some cases, same quality for less money on-site. That fails to mention the quality dining located at Universal Orlando for significantly lower cost.

Though this reason needs a disclaimer, food reviews recurrently remark on portion size being smaller than expected. Perhaps this is due to expecting larger amount for larger price. These remarks happen mostly regarding the main entrees. In fairness, the portion sizes function as adequate. Yes, you can get a larger portion of a similar dish on-site at Walt Disney World. However, your meal will most likely lack experience of this themed find dining place.

  1. NOT LITTLE KID FRIENDLY

Though that phrase exaggerates situation some, this restaurant lacks focus on little kids. The kid’s menu here rates as excellent. Moreover, the kid’s meal offers higher than standard kid’s menu prices. Based on a casual glance at kid’s menu, the target audience appears to be older children. For example, they can order a steak filet with sides for $14 or so. The quality of this 3-4oz steak equals the grown-up versions.

Mostly, the issue involves asking little kids in a theme park to act more adult. For many families, this combination of variable leads to disaster.

The Hollywood Brown Derby stands the test of time in terms of dining at Hollywood Studios. If you want a high-quality signature meal, this place offers that. However, like all restaurants, this place falls short of perfection. As you consider your dining options at Hollywood Studios, this place should be measured for good and bad reasons.
