Rumor-Will Construction Walls Go Up Around Innoventions West Soon?

There have been some rumors swirling around about Innoventions West.

Back in March permits were filed that led to the believe that Innoventions West was being demolished to make room for a festival center and a garden area with a permanent beer garden. (This is also consistent with the D23 Epcot Concept Art)

Innoventions West is the side leading towards The Seas with Nemo and Friends, The Land and Journey into Imagination. Currently Club Cool, The Fountainview (with Starbucks) and the Character Spot are located in that area.

The rumor is that the Starbucks will relocate to the new “Epcot Experience Center” in the Odyssey building. I’m not sure what will happen to Club Cool. Some of the characters will relocate to the Image Works to join Vanelope and Wreck-It-Ralph in the Imagination pavilion.

Then Innoventions West will be torn down to make room for the gardens and festival center I mentioned earlier. Innoventions East will also receive a make-over, but the Electric Umbrella and Mouse Gear will remain for now. Mouse Gear is supposed to be remodeled in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary in 2021.

When will this happen?

The current rumor is that walls will go up very soon for the new phase of construction to begin. According to Disney Insiders over on the WDWMagic forum (you should definitely join and check it out over there!) it’s most likely very soon.

Currently they are moving monuments from the Leave a Legacy display when you enter into Epcot. The plan is to relocate these to the outside of the park.

Construction has clearly begun on the Epcot redevelopment and we expect to see phases of it, like the possible demolition of Innoventions West, happening very soon.  Until Disney confirms any of this it’s all speculation, although it is visible in the concept art from D23 2017.
