If you love the Haunted Mansion (it’s my favorite) this is a cool exhibit for you!

Next month will mark the 50th anniversary of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. In honor of this momentous occasion Disneyland has set up a new exhibit in the Disney Gallery on Main Street USA called The Disney Gallery Presents: Happy Haunts Materialize.

This special exhibit opened the end of last month. What’s great about this new attractions is that it gives guests a special look at the concept design and development of the Haunted Mansion– including early sketches and models used!  Guests can follow the progress from very early design to how it is today–including the concept for the original walk-through attraction that planned instead of using the Doom Buggies.

There are some of the unused portraits designed for the Portrait Hallway–including Dracula and the Greek myth Daphne.

At the center of the exhibit are the figures used to create the models for “ghosts” in the attraction today!

Non-Official Books about the Haunted Mansion if you want to learn more!

There are also some great books out there for Haunted Mansion fans that talk about the different stories Disney considered and the history of the attraction.

This one is about versions of the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdoms
Remember, if you are in the Disneyland area there is a special event next month called “The Haunted Mansion: Celebrating 50 Years of Retirement Unliving.”  Tickets are still available for the event!  They are $299 per person and you can buy them HERE.

There will also be special merchandise!

The Haunted Mansion is my all time favorite attraction anywhere. I love learning all I can about it and I can’t wait to learn more!
